Report: NHL to begin selling ads on jerseys for 2022-23 season
The NHL Board of Governors has approved the sale of advertising space on player uniforms, Eben Novy-Williams and Scott Soshnick of Sportico report.
According to Novy-Williams and Soshnick, the vote was unanimous among the league’s 32 teams and clubs are now able to begin negotiating with potential ad partners.
Oh, I can see it now. A Molson ad on the Maple Leafs jersey!
The advertisements will be three-inch by 3.5 inches in shape, although it’s unclear where exactly they will be placed.
And will they take precedence over other patches, like an anniversary patch?
The NHL, in an effort to recoup money lost from the pandemic, allowed teams to sell ad space on helmets for the first time last season.
And they looked terrible.
How soon till we look like this?
Not pretty sight, IMO.
I thought you were going to tell GeeksAndGamers to get an NHL ad. That would be sweet. Maybe Vegas Golden Knights would do a GeeksandGamers ad.
When I first saw that image (it was alot smaller), it looked like the linesmen had the words “prostate” across his posterior.
