I’ve never played or watched Resident Evil, so can’t really give my opinion on that
But I will leave my 2 cents on Hannah John-Kamen: As for looks, she has a good mix, she could easily pass off for white, black, and asian, and that means lots of potential roles and opportunities

Second of all look up the character Jill Valentine and Leon Kennedy from the RE games, then look at the actors they chose for them, Hannah of course you’re aware of, Avan Jogia is the one they chose for Leon. If you’re not blind or a brainwashed intersectional zealot gender studies major you’ll see the problem

Sheva was a character that not only fit the story of Resident Evil 5, but an attempt to balance out the racist imagery of the game where a white man goes around shooting predominantly black adversaries…some in stereotypical tribal garb along the way. Sure the premise and story facilitates such actions, but some sections were uncomfortable none the less especially early on where you’re just mowing down disadvantaged folks left and right which gave certain individuals ammo to make some pretty despicable content. I like the game overall, but it really had some bad optics throughout.
Also yes, she could’ve been white…it would be insane to have her been in that instance.

Blue eyes ✅
Black hair ✅
Facial fetures ✅
Skin tone – a little darker
What did i say, Hannah can easily pull off white/japanese mix

She looks enough like Jill to me. If I saw a trailer with her in it, I would just assume she’s a white actress with an ethnic/exotic look, sort of like Angelina Jolie.
