The Eternals Getting Delayed If Shang-Chi Flops? Ask Why Shills Work So Hard To Push This Crap!
      The Renaissance Nerd
If Shang-Chi flops as hard as we think it will, The Eternals might get pushed back….again. Ask questions about why everyone is working so hard to defend these films. Don’t be afraid to walk away from the MCU.

      #238557

      @comicsgate

I’m semi-walking away from the MCU. I might be interested in watching Dr Strange 2 depending on how they’re going about that. The next Spidy film might be the only Spidy film I might actually be interested in watching because of Dr Strange being in it and Miguire’s return. I’m no Spidy fan but I’d watch it for those two reasons. Meanwhile, I’m going to watch the Venom-verse.

@DragonLady Walking away from Hollywood is always the proper move. One of the only reasons I am a member here is because I saw fans who had the nerve to stand up to Hollywood and saw that, in many cases, the emperor has no clothes. The content is not good most of the time. Most of it is crap. I actually like Tom Holland due to his ballet and gymnastics background. I have not had an interest in media for many years. I like the fans who talk trash. They are my heroes now. The real heroes in our lives are the whisteblowers and the dissidents and the skeptics. It’s NEVER corporate and I am a person who used to want to be a corporate fat cat.

Marvel PANIC! A Shang-Chi FLOP Could DELAY The Eternals
      Nerdrotic
The Eternals could get DELAYED if Shang-Chi FLOPS according to those Hollywood insiders in Hollywood circles whatever they are. After the release of the Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer Marvel got a good look at how many people are interested in Shang-Chi and The Eternals. Turns out not that many. This comes from Comic book dot com though Vulture, both Access Media/MSM digital rags. That isn’t all, Shang-Chi may hold the fate of the theatrical release in 2021. All eyes or on it and that little recall election going on in California. Which may have A LOT to do with it as well.

Brutal headline. I saw most shills working hard on selling this one, but I guess they forgot to bribe this writer.

Only scooped out some clips and snippets of it.

Marvel’s ‘Shang-Chi’ Is a Bland ‘Black Panther’ Retread

Like Black Panther, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is a representational pioneer—in this case, it’s the first Marvel Cinematic Universe entry (and the rare slam-bang studio extravaganza) to feature an Asian lead. Unfortunately, that’s not the only thing it has in common with Ryan Coogler’s 2018 superhero effort. A stew of dead parents, childhood trauma, lush and secret magical worlds, ancient armies, quasi-sympathetic villains, and an upright hero who must embrace his noble birthright over the course of an adventure in which he’s surrounded by formidable female warriors, Destin Daniel Cretton’s film follows its predecessor’s template to an enervating degree—a somewhat apt scenario, given the constant lip service it pays to the importance of legacy.

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings (in theaters Sept. 3) also shares with its MCU brethren an affection for elaborate mythology that’s explained in great big gobs of exposition, and an aesthetic marked by uninventive compositions and the franchise’s stock color template (i.e. an array of flat, glowing blues, greens, yellows and reds). That assembly-line form allows this newest series installment to feel right at home in the larger MCU, such that its notable cameos are sprinkled seamlessly throughout its narrative proper and mid-credits scene. Yet it contributes to a general seen-this-all-before quality to its tale, which hits every familiar beat in the Marvel playbook, and only distinguishes itself through the very element that’s customarily the studio’s most standard: its action.

mething unimaginative (if not stereotypical) about Marvel making its first Asian-headlined movie a martial-arts spectacular, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is best during its highly choreographed combat set pieces, which are lucid, creative, and muscular. To be sure, by its conclusion, Cretton’s film resorts to the usual energy-blasting, roaring-monster CGI mayhem. Initially, though, this origin story packs a considerable wallop, highlighted by a prolonged, multi-stage skirmish on a San Francisco city bus that serves as the virtual coming-ou

ng yourself,” “seizing your destiny,” “letting go” and “honoring the past” that’s never very original. A brief early nod to Asian American discrimination and a cornucopia of Asian-inspired imagery (much of it involving dragons) strive to give the material a distinctive cultural identity. Too often, though, they come across as window dressing for a venture that wants to keep things on a well-worn MCU track.

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings’ finest sequences wear their cinematic influences on their sleeve (be it House of Flying Daggers, or the work of Jackie Chan) while delivering the superhero-flavored insanity its audience craves. However, what the film boasts in superficial style (at least at the outset), it sacrifices in personality. Liu is suitably stout and athletic as Shang-Chi, but like Chadwick Boseman’s T’Challa, he’s also the least dynamic figure in his own movie. Liu seems most comfortable during jokey bookending scenes opposite Awkwafina, and the same goes for Awkwafina herself, whose conventional comedy-relief sidekick schtick grates almost as soon as Shang-Chi and Kate depart San Francisco for Macau and, afterwards, the mountainous headquarters of Wenwu.

till, if it’s too much to expect the MCU to break the mold that’s made it the 21st century’s reigning pop-culture king, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings at least continues the studio’s track record of enlisting the talents of truly great artists. Here, that would be the commanding and charismatic Leung. As a man tormented by loss and corrupted by dreams of vengeance and reunion, the venerable Hong Kong actor brings as much depth to Wenwu as the project will allow, all while relishing the chance to wreak havoc—and kick superpowered ass—in a variety of elaborate brawls. Equally despicable and empathetic, his entertaining baddie is a breath of fresh air in an otherwise been-here, done-that affair.

Marvel DISASTER! | Shang-Chi Set To Have WORST Box Office Opening For The MCU

Shang-Chi FALLS APART Before Release! Predicted To Be The WORST Marvel Movie In The Box Office!
      Geeks + Gamers

China is the number one economy now. I really thought that Marvel and Disney had what it took to go all out and make a stunning epic to grab that market. The film does not look as expected. I expected the best Marvel movie ever made. No shade to the cast. They seem like good people. I went back and watch the old Spider-Man movies and they were quite good. I am tempted to say that I feel bad, but China does not feel bad for being number one now and if they decide to destroy Hollywood, then so be it. I wish I could root and cheer for Hollywood as part of Team America, but there have just been too many sleazy, smut filled films for me to ever defend them. Hollywood chose globalism and woke over nationalism, so I can never support them again.

Nerdrotic pointed out the obvious that I missed, that the Ten Rings have NOTHING to do with Shang-Chi, but another character entirely.

Just reading Mark Miller’s excellent ‘Wolverine: Enemy of State’ comic once again. It’s a storyline that, in the past, I would’ve loved to have seen in the MCU but what’s the betting that modern Disney would tone the whole thing down if they did decide to do it? Another reason to skip the X-Men in the MCU because I know they’ll mess them up. And the F4 too.

      #239168

Really good point. I would not mind seeing it in What if, but you are right about the tone and it almost makes you wish Logan was in DC, so they could be grittier. Thank for recommending. What a great read. That is one story that really captures just how dangerous he is. In the past, I think Disney would have took a shot at it, but you are correct. Is there anything at all from Disney that has had such a mood and tone in recent memory? At one point, I would have loved to see what Marvel could do with the X-Men in the MCU, but I just think it’s been too long. The Claremont/Byrne fans are all older now and have probably lost the feeling they had back then. It would be like what they did with Starship Troopers and John Carter, and would be the same if they tried with Flash Gordon or Buck Rogers. The demographics have changed, aged, and the fan base is probably gone or diminished.

What if the world’s deadliest killing machine was never de-programmed? Over half a year has passed since the Hand took control of Wolverine, forcing him to assassinate one great hero after another. Now only a handful of super-powered beings are left to stop him.

The last time Disney did anything that was very dark was ‘The Hunchback of Notre-Dame’ back in 1996. Despite it being very toned down from the book, it was also still a very dark film. Before that it was ‘The Black Cauldron’ back in the 80’s.
