      I have had the privileged to play this game for about 50 hours. It is what happens when Conan Exiles and Enshrouded has a child but the parents (devs) actually listen to the CC’s, Testers and in the last Beta The Players.

      Waiting to hear the final price, but from my playing time I will be buying it and a G-portal server. It was that much fun.

        @Mustangride1

        Could you do a video review for us?

        It sounds like a good game but I can’t see the link. Can you introduce this game with a video?

          Soulmask

          What is it?
          So strait from the Studios mouth: “Soulmask is a sandbox game that prioritizes an authentic survival experience. As the “last one” blessed with the mysterious mask, players will grapple for survival in a primitive land steeped in mysterious faiths, carving out a path to ascendance. Start from nothing, explore, build, recruit tribesmen to fortify your clan, and ultimately unravel the mysterious truths hidden behind the civilizations of this world.”

          As of the writing of this article here I have 46 hours in. The initial cost of the game in its Early Access is $26.99, I have spent that in a few hours at a Video Game Arcade, so I have my money out of this game already

          This game will remind many of Conan Exiles, Ark, Enshrouded and ValHeim. As an Exiles player I will say this, I will not be keeping my Server for Conan “this game is better in all aspects” it is what happens when the Studio and Devs actually listen to the Players.

          Have there been some bugs since release last Friday? YES

          Has the studio done anything about them? YES

          They have also outlined a roadmap for the game and continue to address player concerns. This aint no Conan or Nightingale, this studio at least seems to care and wants to grow and keep players aka customers!

          A few of my Pro’s and Con’s

          Pro’s  {No build limit, Nice looking characters all be some of them rinse and repeats, Combat is not easy, very interesting crafting system in that your Thralls/tribesmen craft for you as well and do maintenance giving you more time to explore. Graphics looks great. Speed Running is NOT going to happen, you have to earn what you gain.}

          Con’s {Little rubber-banding going on, “they are aware of it and working on it” It has a death box “but I have a private server and turned the damn thing off not sure if its an option on open servers” Seriously who in 2024 still does death boxes. Some of the creatures faces look derpy. Needs more voice work for tribesmen and NPC interaction.}

          In all reality this feels more like a 1.0 release than EA. Things can always go down hill we have seen it before, however just seeing the studio’s “On the Spot work to fix bugs and address players questions and concerns as well as implement their suggestions”, this game might be that outlier that becomes something truly special in the Sandbox realm.

          I would say pick it up and try it yourself.

            130 hours in update:

            Cons:
            1. a little rubberbanding, but it might be me as I was running off my phones hot-spot (hey its all I have had for 11 days from a tornado strike”

            2. The animals faces still need a little work.

            3. They do need to fix some of the NPC lock out features (currently even though you are suppose to be able to lock a door so they cannot operate it, they still can)

            4. Better explanation needed for Bonfire protection range and its limitations.

            5. Still needs controller features added, but it’s a EA WIP, so its coming.

            Pros:

            Let me start off with the biggest one. These devs play the game, they are also streaming it all the time so Problems get seen by all. What is gamers biggest complaint normally in that the Devs don’t play it. THESE DO.

            NPC, They talk shit. So many times I look at their chat and just laugh at what they are saying, once these get voice actors to them its going to be even funnier.

            NPC, also use the toilet (play the game its funny)

            The devs keep improving this game with each patch both announced and clearly behind the scene unannounced.

            First Dungeon: Here is where the shit hits the fan in most games and what most people want to know. Over an HOUR for a 3 man team to do a dungeon is insane (Level 30 out of 60) and even with my level 52 gear it was no joke difficult. I have played many sandbox games and this first of what looks like 12 Dungeons was one of the best I ever played.

            Boss battles: So they progressively get harder each time 5 total bosses but 3 levels to each for a total of 15. So far I have beat the first 2 twice and plenty of ass beatings from them to me. The devs found the right balance of difficult but fun.

            Ok so that is done, I have seen the public statement the Game has sold over 100,000 and seen a few reports its actually nearing 200,000 copies sold. I would not be shocked if its true. It is EA and still has some issues to work out. As I said above NPC are a issue but mostly on lock-out and also they really need voice acting.

            The NPC in this game you can also take over as in switch from your main (character you built) to one of them it makes leveling interesting and completely different from any other game I can recall.

            I am still suggesting people buy this game, it is worth the 30.00. This is what games should be, but as always, caution it is EA and until we get a 1.0 nothing is in stone.
