Is there any reason to be hopeful that the Mandalorian is setting up an arch that would prevent the rise of the First Oder thus undoing the sequel trilogy?
Personally, the world of Mando is bland, lifeless, and small compared to the EU, so even if they manage to divert away from Jake Skywalker, I still don’t care.
I’ve found a renewed wellspring of love for the EU as replacement books for missing parts of my collection start coming in today, so everything else non-OT and PT pales in comparison to that bright star.
I raise my EU fanboy flag high with pride. Mando is free to keep being bland and boring, and everyone who likes it is free to, but I will always wager that if anyone ever took the time to put Mando side by side with the best of the EU, with EU material getting the same media treatment, Mando would fall away.
…oh…and fuck baby Yoda Grogu…no one will ever convince me it was a good idea and anything more than catnip.
And there you have it.
All roads lead to Jake Skywalker.
You want good Star Wars? You want Star Wars that won’t disappoint and give you Luke Skywalker?
Go read the EU.
Oh yeah…and after watching that….eternally fuck Dave Filoni…he’s no savior.
Oh no! Favero didn’t spoil his plan to some Hollywood dip shits who are all probably Kathleen worshipers, what ever will I do Roas. Lol. Ryan salivates at any negative Star Wars news he can find but I respect him and his options and what he does to holding Lucasfilm accountable esspecially when they attack the fans. I’m going with what Midnights Edge has said because it make the most logical sense especially given the drastistc change in marketing for High Republic vs Mandlorian. Bob Igar hired John to clean up Kathleens shit without her crying sexism from a firing. Her and the kids get to play high Republic while the men make cool space shit. The Mandalorian does not line up with the sequel trilogy and in fact highlights the problem isn’t race and gender diversity… the problem is aggressive identity politics and shit writing. Are there aspects of the Mandalorian that are just… okay? Yeah… its not perfect but its extremely inoffensive compared to the last trilogy. Midnights Edge actually has sources and contacts within the industry and they know about the studio political system at play.
Well, I tend to not watch Midnight’s Edge, cuz I just don’t enjoy them. I don’t discount what they say as possibility, but I’m not going to go all in and believe whatever they say. Just like I love Doomcock, but I don’t believe all his rumors, either, and frankly I never want any of them to come true.
All real evidence on paper continues to show the Disney Trilogy will stay as is. Until we see otherwise, there is no reason to believe they will ever do anything good. The only real solution to fixing it all is to throw it ALL out and start over, but they’ll never do that for many reasons both practical and ideological. I know my solution is pure fantasy, but a clean slate is the only thing to ever fix the franchise. Creating multiple realities will just dump more shit in the punch bowl. It sucks in comics, and it would suck in this instance too.
Because of the camp I sleep in, there is never anything they could do to make it good. They spit in my eye on day 1, and because of that I never fell for any of the bullshit.
I want Disney to keep failing and putting out shit. Just makes the EU look better and better. I’ve got my over 20 years of additional Star Wars I can always go back to, even if there were still more stories to tell in it that I will likely never get. Soon as my collection is restored to its full state, I will happily begin reading it all over again.
I get you man.
Ive said from the start that all roads lead to green sea cow titty milk.
There is no change that will bring the Cowgirl Dave show in line with the EU. He has never had any respect for anything that came before him in any medium.
“It became clear that, within the established continuity, certain things were likely to transpire.” – Favreau
“certain things” but not “everything.”
Too many folks are getting “retcon” mixed up with “remake”. They would never remake the sequels, but with Rebels “seemingly” pointing to a split timeline, the Mandoverse could go down the nearly same path…but with ripples.
The S2 finale of Mando already “seemingly” points to that.
Also, Disney has every reason to go this route. They’ve already made their money on the sequels. Physical media is dying. They toyline took a dive during that period. The themeparks underwhelmed before the pandemic. The cast have all tossed shade towards it and aren’t returning anytime soon. It’s gross trended downwards instead of ramping up to an Endgame-level finish. Now’s their chance to sell the same story to people…only slightly differently leading to “holy cow” water cooler discussion for unexpected twists in the continuity, and giving them hope things turns out on a better note in some cases.
This wouldn’t be much different than their current approach of needlessly rehashing their animated library, only in this instance it’s something most people would want.
Also, Favreau was talking about Mando.
Not the Ahsoka show which will likely be dealing with the timeline alteration before they eventually get to that Grogu show/movie with Luke.
The title of the show contains imagery from TWBW and there’s extra canon plot points in a Wookiepedia listed cardset of that particular storyline which shares info Tano may have even messed with things even more than we know as she found an entrance back into that plane of existence.
OH, also, we’re like over a year away from any big reveal, why would he or anyone blow a potential surprise? That’s probably one of the reasons Black Widow is being held back by Marvel on top of wanting to get as much money they could get at the box office once this pandemic eases up (have fun with that). Not to mention, remember what Lindelof and Cuse kept saying about Lost during its run? Then turned out to kinda be true?
I agree. I think the world between worlds in the title is telling us it will be a centerpoint in the show.
They’ve already made their money on the sequels.
hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahah They lost 4 billion dollars over the course of the rat franchise. As of right now they have not brought in enough NET WEORTH to pay the sale price. then you look at each of them makeing progressivly less money while costing progressivly more to produce… Hell the final film basically broke even on NET sales.
Translation…
They’ve already made all they can from them.
Which I explained above.
Lost money.
=/= made money.
Is English a second language?
Semantics.
