This video is, of course, from last week, but the week of reading (or listening to if you do audio books) the first book, Shadows of the Empire by Steve Perry, has begun.

As I state in my video, since I don’t live stream yet, I figured this was a good place to extend conversations/discussions for now. This is merely the introductory thread. With each book I plan on starting a fresh topic for easy search and access.

I invite everyone to join in. This will be fun, I promise.

    I agree.

    We have the Expanded Universe.

I refuse to buy anything with that tag “legends” on it.

This guy has really grown in his broadcasting skills. I like the melodrama combined with pauses. Good syncopation to his voice delivery.

I agree that Grand Admiral Thrawn is a great antagonist in this trilogy… not a villain.  Thrawn’s history/background does not make him a villain.

He very much believes in Law and Order.

    Like your reviews @Roas

And I guess we will have to be patient for the next book of this trilogy….

    Can’t wait!

It could happen sooner….just depends how consistent I am sitting down to read. I’ll give the usual couple of weeks for anyone who needs to go get the book as of announcement (tomorrow), then hopefully by the third week I’m done and video emerges.

    Oh, let me guess!

After Volume 2 “Dark Force Rising”, you will be reading/reviewing…

    The Last Command

    Awesome!

Can’t wait, but I will, as it is worth the wait!

Do you plan to continue with the Timothy Zahn novels, or doing something else before going back?

I’m sticking to the timeline. For the next few months here is the road map:

    – Dark Force Rising

    – The Last Command

    – Dark Empire (This will only be a week, cuz you can read DE in a day)

    – The Jedi Academy Trilogy

I  have an entire bookshelf of nothing but SW books, over 100. I even own some rare ones such as old Book Club versions that combine all 3 books in a series in hardcover. If there was a hardcover, I got it.

I have all the audiobooks, and I mean ALL the audiobooks. I’ve listened pretty much up until the time Disney took over, so the end of the Fate of the Jedi series is where I stopped. I frankly have zero care or interested in the High Republic stuff.

You are all in for one hell of a ride. Things really get good in these books. Jaina and Jacen. Mara Jade. Tahiri (one of my fav tragic characters). Ben Skywalker. Abeloth. Vestara Khai.

Luke was most always portrayed correctly in all these books as well. Something the prequel trilogy couldn’t do.

My current Monday read is Heir to the Empire. :D
