I was gonna wait till i finished watching the whole series before starting this topic, but i’m enjoying it so much that my brain will explode if i don’t let something out 🤩🤯 So here’s my review and thoughts of what i’ve watched so far:
SAO
Season 1, the beginning of it all, what happens if humans get stuck in a videogame with no way out?? The first episode or 2 i was a little confused, but it didn’t take long at all for the story to capture me, the series has great characters, cool ass battles, and some unexpected twist, my favorite character’s Kirito, despite all the chaos in the SAO game he still manages to be a fun and relatable character
SAO II
One of my favorite things about SAO and SAO II is how each part of the series brings you into a different character’s backstory, it’s a great way to flesh out characters in a way that also compliments the storytelling, and if i could relate to Kirito personality-wise (though i am a little more hot-headed than him 😅), Asuna’s the character i can relate to most family-wise, specificly her mom, who reminds me way too much of some of my family members, mine and Asuna’s family situations almost mirror eachother, so not only can i really relate to her, but i also feel for her. As a mega Star Wars fan, i love that in GGO Kirito has a freaking lightsaber 🤩 As for the season finale, that ending, yeah, i drowned in my own tears 😭
SAO Alternative Gun Gale Online
This is the one thing i didn’t like about SAO, i couldn’t get thru half and episode of this, felt way too slow and i couldn’t connect at all to the main character, and i’m also quite bummed ’cause i loved GGO in SAO II and wanted to see more of it
SAO Ordinal Scale movie
The movie’s a little slower paced than the series, but nontheless it delivers an interesting story, this time bringing virtual reality into the real world 😁
SAO Alicization
After the first intriguing AF episode, the next couple of episodes where a bit of a drop for me and i thought this season’s not gonna be as good as the first 2, how bloody wrong i was, ’cause this season is freaking amazing! Once all the pieces of the puzzle are laid out, this season deep dives into human psychology, morality, and munipulation, it also takes up the gore factor by 100 which i both appreciate and am absolutely disgusted and disturbed by, and that’s a little bit of my psychology 🤪
I have not yet watched season 4 and am half way thru season 3 (when they meet Cardinal), so please DO NOT SPOIL ANYTHING!
Who else here likes Sword Art Online? 😸🗡
SAO is one of my favorites. The joy I get from it immeasurable. Some people take a dump on it because of Kirito’s OPness, but I love it. When he broke out his Dual Wield for the first time, the show had me forever.
This is a show that earns all its emotional payouts. During the final battle of Ordinal Scale, when Asuka uses Mother’s Rosario and Yuuki appears with her…I shed full on man tears because of how powerful that arc was.
And some of the action you are about to see in War for the Underworld is great. Fantastic payoff, if you ask me.
Now even though SAO Progressive is coming out, there is still one more actual arc after Alicization, so I’m very much looking forward to its adaptation.
Yes, i can’t wait to see the rest of Alicization, and am happy to hear there’s more SAO to come 🤩
What’s OPness??
What’s OPness??
Over Poweredness
One of these days I need to watch at least the first season… It’s been on my ever growing todo list.
Highly recommend you start watching SAO @shrap, i just finished season 3 last night, this is one of those series that just seems to get better and better as it goes along
SAO War Of Underworld
This season’s very battle heavy while still continuing the psycological aspect explored in season 3, introducing us to some of the most psychotic and sadistic villains, and showing how constant battles and death can break a you, but also how having the right people around you supporting you can put you back toghether stronger than ever, i think what i like most about SAO is how they used these virtual settings to show such real emotions and life experiances, not one moment ever felt fake or forced no matter how fantastical the world or powers got 🗡
