Mario 3 is the undisputed king, in my opinion. One of the greatest games of all time, and I play through it damn near every year.
Rounding out my top 5 would probably be Zelda 1, Mega Man 2 and 3, and Mario 2.
Punch out and Duck Hunt
I would have said Mario 3 lol but I first played it as “Super Mario 3 Advanced.” So in my head, I think of it as a SNES game because on GBA the graphics were sooooo good. I love SM3 more than World but they are both the best 2D Mario games.
