Give us season 3 hulu damm it
The Orville is the only Star trek left.
Season 3 trailer!
As much as I love nerdrotic and g&g, these guys complain about all the bad stuff but never review great shows like the Orville. I think it would go a long way to start showing the positives that ppl are doing, instead of the hate chicks. Just a thought
Only two episodes in but season three’s tone has been a little too dark for my liking.
I find it interesting that a Parody became 10 times better than the show it was making a parody of.
The show started out with a huge slant to be more humorous, but has slowly turned into more serious and even though provoking stories and episodes. Nearly gone are the “fart jokes” type humor that were so prevalent in the first season and instead we get just absolutely fantastic Star Trek. Yes, this is what Star Trek should be and used to be. I absolutely LOVE this show. The two episode Identity arch from Season Two was just phenomenal. It completely took the show off the rails and upended everything in spectacular fashion. I can’t say enough good things about it. Season 3 is already great and I know the rest will be just as good.
@TheFrag : I agree. Nerdrotic and G&G spend 95% of their time with negativity about shows/movies when there is actually stuff out there to praise. They have praised Top Gun, but haven’t posted 20 episodes about it like they do on things they dislike. (RK Outpost Ryan “cough”). It would be great that if at least once a week they would all find something to be positive about. I know the industry sucks a lot these days, but again, there ARE things to like out there.
I agree with that summation. But you have to keep in mind G&G is a business on one or more levels. And negativity gets the rage clicks whereas positivity does not. I am not bashing anyone or anything just stating that is how that stuff works. It’s no different than the news in that respect. My point is, it’s to be expected.
Also, I do like “The Orville” as well. Most of the time anyway. They do some of the lefty stuff from time to time ,normally in a thought provoking way to their credit, and I don’t mind that. The only thing I dislike is the mocking of any worship beyond the self. That I do not care for.
@Vknid : That was my point about this being Star Trek. Star Trek used to always do “lefty” things, but in thought provoking and thoughtful ways. TNG did it the most frankly, but it was never blasting you in the face with it. This is the same way The Orville does it. I have no problem with it done that way, it’s done tastefully.
It is the way the NEW Star Trek does it that puts me off. It forsakes good story instead for identity politics. It utterly shoves the blatant agendas in your face, and then proceeds to make you nauseous from it. Some episodes of Discovery literally made me cringe they were so bad with it.
As far as G&G/Nerdrotic’s continual complaining/negativity. Yes, they are a business, but there is business in having some positivity. They really could use some more of it than they do imo.
Agreed on all points. I know The Orville does it like Star Trek did and I do appreciate that. But where Star Trek was not anti-religion (nor was it pro) The Orville is staunchly anti-religion. That bugs me but I still watch it and enjoy it. I just skip certain episodes.
Episode 3 was a welcomed improvement in story and tone.
However, it’s obvious they’ve turned the humor way down for this season, probably a little too much in my opinion. It’s lost something of that fun, optimistic outlook the previous seasons had.
Two more criticisms:
*The editing seems a little rough. Perhaps this is a result of the production issues that occurred because of the pandemic but it was quite noticeable toward the end of this episode.
*The visual effects for this season while definitely more detailed also appear more artificial with respect to the movement of the ships and characters.
Still, it’s orders of magnitude better than any “Star Trek” rubbish currently in production.
Episode 4: Gently Falling Rain…Wow, just Wow.
A well acted, well paced episode that cleverly satirized many of the complex political issues currently facing American society.
Along with adequate humor and a couple of surprises thrown in for good measure it’s definitely one of the series’ best.
I have not watched S3 yet but it looks good. I hope they don’t go down the “all religion is stupid” lane many times in this season. That tends to turn me off to those particular episodes.
But hey, even then it’s better than new Trek by a light year.
I rather rub shaved glass and lemon juice in my taint then watch new Trek.
