Hudson Soft, the same developers of the Mario Party series, once gave Sonic the same treatment on the Dreamcast in the year 2000. No sequel or re-release has been done since, making this a cult classic that’s hard to grab (I’m fortunate enough to still own my original copy).
End Credits theme:
June 23, 2001. One of the greatest sequels ever made is released.
Sonic Adventure 2’s soundtrack is undoubtedly amongst the most emblematic of the series. To a certain generation of fans, it represents everything the series stands for. To me, it is the SEGA hardware era at its peak.
For SA2, Sonic Team went for something a little different this time. Not only would each character have their own unique levels, but said levels were also accompanied with a certain genre of music specific to that character. Sonic’s stages featured classic rock’n’roll, emphasizing his wild and rebellious spirit.
Tails in 2017: “Sonic, help me!”
Tails in 2001: *Literally breaks into prison to help Sonic*
Essentially being Sonic’s kid brother, Tails’ music varies a little and is closer to Arena Rock than classic. Tails really pulls his own weight in this story and is a hero in his own right.
Knuckles: The black guy of Sonic the Hedgehog.
Aquatic Mine
Death Chamber
Meteor Herd
I’m personally not really into rap/hip hop, but these tracks are pretty smooth. It communicates Knuckles true character as a somewhat brooding loner who prefers the solitude of his own thoughts and acting on his own terms rather than the company and reliance on others.
Shadow as a villain > Shadow as an anti-hero.
Radical Highway
White Jungle
Sky Rail
Final Chase
Shadow has some of the most intense themes in the game – This mix of hard rock and techno emphasizes the dark, brooding loner driven by anger and sadness to see his goal of revenge complete. Back in the day, it used to make my hairs stand on end.
