They kinda already did that loosely with Everybody Hates Chris, but Wonder Years leaned more into dramatic territory so much it oozed awkwardness from the uncomfortable tension of most situations Kevin found himself in. This could easily top that show if handled correctly, or at least stand out from the lousy crap that’s clogging up abc at the moment. I haven’t read any casting mentions, but Chi McBride is free now that Hawaii Five-O has ended. He’d be fantastic in a Jack Arnold-like role, but would probably have to play grandfather as he’s pushing 60. Fingers crossed they take their time and get this one right.
