Success is a subjective term. Just because a show gets high ratings doesn’t mean it automatically any good, and because a show gets poor ratings and axed after one season doesn’t mean it bad. Maybe the show got canned after 1 season or perhaps lasted a while running off of a cult following, but never obtained mainstream attention? The latter is actually a good thing, for when something hits the mainstream I find it dips in quality. I have compiled a list of my underappreciated TV and would love to see yours
Team Knight Rider: (1 season 1997-1998) A continuation of the original Knight Rider series. Ten years removed from the adventures of Michael Knight and kitt, now the foundation for law and Government has assembled five highly skilled operatives and paired them with the most advanced state of the art vehicles to take on a new breed of outlaw. They are Team Knight Rider
The New Adventures of Robin Hood ( 4 seasons 1997-1999) Rember Hercules and Xena? Well, this was in the same vein. Basically, a shameless rip-off; but I liked it. While Hercules and Xena are superior in so many ways there is a charm to this take on the legend of Robin Hood.
Dark Knight: (2 seasons 2000-2002) No not that dark knight. This was the legend of Ivanhoe and like Robin Hood (above) followed hot off the heels of the success of shows like Hercules and Xena.
Jack of All Trades (1 season 2000) Starring the legend that is Bruce Campbell, I highly recommend this show. Hercules the Legendary Journeys had finished its 7-year run and Universal was looking for another show to put in syndication to replace it. Filling the shoes left by the son of Zeus was never going to be easy but had Jack been given half the PR and chance that Herc was, I think it could have run for a good few seasons. It’s funny, action-packed, and satires both America and Britain while celebrating both are glory and history.
Knight Rider (2008 1 Season) Kitt is back and this time he’s a Ford Mustang with the son of Michael Knight (Justin Bruening) at the wheel. NBC never gave this once a chance. There was real potential for this series but NBS are jerks.
