Walmart heirs agree to buy NFL’s Denver Broncos in record-shattering deal
Terms of the sale weren’t disclosed, but multiple media reports said it was for $4.65 billion.
WTF?
Do they think it is really worth that much?
The price tag far surpasses the $3.1 billion sale last month of Chelsea, one of European soccer’s blue ribbon teams
I still don’t see where the value for the Broncos is coming from.
The $4.65 billion would also be more than twice the price of the most expensive NFL Team ever sold, in 2018… Carolina Panthers for $2.275 billion.
This is a mystery to me. Does the deal include the stadium (and other assets) that added to the total costs.
$4.65 Billion just for the team, something does not sound right.
If you think about it like this it might make sense. If he does not hand over 4.65b in cash and it’s some form of a loan situation or a mix thereof, then he gets to tap into a river of money without actually handing over 4.65b of his own money up front.
Think of how Elon was buying Twitter (which is not going to happen). They call it Elon buying Twitter but he has backers and was not giving them 44b of his own money.
It is for the team and all things regarding it.
1. Team
2. Merchandising
3. Properties
So ya that sounds about right for a Professional Sports team of the Bronco’s clout and Merchandising ability. And Yes the family has the money to do it and not blink. People hate Wal*mart, but they do a ton of good for communities you never hear about. I know several of them personally, done work for them, and the FAMILY not the Business are really good people. The Business and what it does now-a-days would have Sam turning in his grave, he was about the people and that meant customers and staff.
Does Wal-Mart do a lot for communities, or does the family? I would assume it’s the latter.
Both.
But the Family IMO does more quietly behind the scenes than the business does. Everyone wants the Business to contribute and as a business it gets the most request and then gets to slap its sign all over the place. The family is still the power-house in projects though that IMO best serve the community. Hard to explain but its like this.
The business is going to do stuff like schools, sporting events etc high profile…. The family will do things like parks or bike trails, walking trails nature walks etc and you might not ever see their name on it unless the city does a small plaque.
Thanks for that information. Very interesting and good to know.
