    I really hope this isn’t woke. Tim Burton is doing this as well. Wednesday has been a waifu of mine since…forever. Can we just have something good without agenda’s and scolding? Please?

      Im really really hoping this is good. It looks good. it really really looks good.  The only thing that will kill this that i can foresee is if they fuck with Gomez. twitter thinks Gomez is a simp beta when in the original series and movies he was in charge, he just loved his wife. More than life or death he loved his wife. A few times in the series Mortica was given a chance to belittle, or demean Gomez and she refused. She loves her husband, that was the hook. everything about them is different, they arent a couple that fights, nags and belittles. They are weird, BECAUSE they love each other. If they twist that love into some beta simp shit it will kill the appeal of the show. Wednesday has strong males in her life, and a father that shows her how a woman is supposed to be treated, and a mother that shows how a woman is suppose to treat her husband. that dynamic is so rare on tv and movies they better not fuck with it. Who her parents are and how the act builds who she is. The show was ultimately about Family, Love, and standing together against the wild crazy world that doesnt understand how this family can exist.

      I’ve been an Addams Family fan all my life.

      When I was a kid I watched the original show across various channels.

      Had the NES Game Fester’s Quest.

      There was a coffee table book of Charles Addams’ artwork in my house called My Gang, I think that was the title, which I would routinely read.

      The 1990’s movies are great and redefined the franchise for the modern era. The SNES game that followed was a fun play as well.

      Then the 1992 Saturday morning cartoon on ABC was fantastic, blending the old and new into a near perfect take.

      Having checked out the trailer, I so far don’t see any red flags, because the character of Wednesday was always strong and this portrayal in the trailer does not seem OOC. I am in the camp that Luis Guzman doesn’t fit for me, even though I always enjoy him. But, this isn’t about Gomez and Morticia. This is about Wednesday, so right now I’m ready to see what this show has to offer.

        Come on guys.  This is Netflix.  It will be garbage.

        This however is art.

        I liked the trailer… which is very rare lol lets hope it’s a good show, I will watch… The actress seems very committed, and she looks cool.

        but as soon as i see something woke I will turn off and watch something else. I’ve no patience for the groomer community nowadays. -_-

        @Vknid

        Yeah, it is Netflix. The network that put out the butchered Sandman and the woke Sabrina The Teenage Witch. But, I watch a lot of good stuff on Netflix. I am always watching something on there. A lot of good Korean and Japanese shows/movies on there. This is also produced by Tim Burton.

        I also, like others have said, grew up watching Addams Family and Munsters. It’s probably part of why I like goth women. My house is a goth/metal/anime haven of decor. My aesthetic has always been dark. I saw Darth  Vader on the screen in 1977 when I was 4 and wanted to be him. Ya, I like the dark stuff and Wednesday is a waifu. So, I really hope this is good. I need some good dark humor, because I am fed up with the crap low IQ humor Disney/Marvel and others are feeding the market.

          Well, I should not have been so negative.  Hopefully it is something good but historically stuff produced by Netflix is terrible.  And most anything worth watching on Netflix is someone else’s content which they have little of anymore and that is why I no longer have Netflix.

          Admittedly, I too like the Goth ladies.  However, I treat them like I would say a Lamborghini. I like to look at them from afar because I know I can’t afford the maintenance.

            I loved the trailer, It is Wednesday, the actress has her look and tone down from the trailer and for sure the attitude.

            The only thing I wish that netflix would do is take a lesson from HBO and network TV and spread the episodes out to weekly.

            This could be as I said last night on Natural 20, the CEO of Netflix following through on his word to get the woke out. Wednesday looks great, Cobra Kai the trailer sure looks like they are keeping it true to form. Saw a few others recently that look interesting.  Am I holding my breath? No, but I am cautiously optimistic. I think Hollywood has been shaken to its core over the Fans and what they are doing to Rings of Amazon, with the backlash.and seeing what Maverick has done.

            I have to point out Rings of Amazon people are watching the MAIN AMERICAN PRIME accounts. If more people would look it is ALL NATIONS that are destroying that show. Most content creators are only looking at the US PRIME…. I assure you Amazon is seeing the worlds reaction, but they are self imploding with all the lies.

            Just watched the first episode and it is pretty woke. However, it is a Burton show…visually great, solid acting, just great production quality.  Wednesday is a Mary Sue (martial arts/advanced fencing), hates the evil patriarchy, and informs kids dressed as pilgrims that pilgrims are guilty of mass genocide.  I am already feeling that Thanksgiving guilt just after celebrating Thanksgiving…oh the deep shame that haunts me (sarcasm intended).  Question, how likely is the pilgrim/Thanksgiving timing just a coincidence?

            #288012

            @Gooob : And exactly what was woke about it? I saw NOTHING woke about it and greatly enjoyed the first episode.

            Wednesday is a Mary Sue? WHAT? You clearly don’t know who and what Wednesday is. Wednesday has always bee a “strong female” character with many skills and very a capable solo person. Her father was a very good fencer, that is who she learned the fencing skills from and why she was so good at it. Also, if she was a Mary Sue, she wouldn’t have lost.

            She hates everything. Not just “the patriarchy”…which she never said or even mentioned in the first place. The Pilgrim quote was VERY MUCH in character of something Wednesday would say, about anything. It sounds like you don’t really know the character, or the history of the show and characters, because she was spot on in this show. And so was her family. It also sounds to me you are yet another person looking for woke where it is not.

            The show is great so far for me and I am quite surprised with how good it is. As someone who has been into Addams Family since I was an egg, this does everything justice imo.

            Fair enough. The message that is constantly being pushed seemed a bit prevalent and it just gets old.  I may be a bit sensitive to it.  I will definitely concede, it has been a long time since seeing anything Addams Family and I must have forgotten character qualities of Wednesday.  I too really enjoyed the first episode and the second episode was just as good.  Good storytelling is definitely front and center so hopefully it stays that way.

              @Gooob

              Please tell us what was “woke” about it, that is out of character for Wednesday?

              And By no means is she a Mary-sue, not even close. I did my non-spoiler revue, and will try to keep away from spoilers in this reply. But as you brought it up her father is a fencing expert and clearly her instructor. She is also know to be a martial arts expert and that even gets explained. Her comment on the Pilgrims is spot on something she would say from the comics to all portrayals of her.  Now she lost the fencing dual a (Mary Sue) would not have. There are other things throughout the show that break the (Mary Sue) completely.

              To many people are looking to find (Woke in everything) and they do disservice to themselves and the Thing they are calling it out on.

                I am just so sick of people saying everything is woke without even watching it more than 1 episode. This is 2022 and there will be things from our culture in shows of this time. Does not mean its woke, its just the times.  No different then shows from the 50’s 60’s 70’s etc had things from the culture in them.

                People see a strong female and instantly we hear ACKKK MARY SUE, MARY SUE, well how about women like say Mary Tyler More, Red Sonya, Maj Margaret Houlihan, Xena and I can go on with plenty of strong female leads and supporting actress’s. Or they see a gay person in a show or gay parents and they say AGENDA AGENDA when all it is, is the culture of our time. Hell some people need to watch some of the shows from the late 60’s early 70’s they will see the same thing “culture showing up in the times”

                The shame is they might tell people it is and its truly not. Which makes them as bad as these SJW’s and possibly worse because they might be denying someone of enjoyment and that in this world is very much needed.

                This show is woke. It becomes woke when you can absolutely tell they added in: patriarchy bad, pilgrims bad, girl boss that can take down three large boys….and they do this not for the story but for political bs. Why does this show need to represent 2022? This show could become a classic, they don’t need to be modern.

                You can tell when a show is “woke” and when a show is naturally telling a story, even if it has things that might be considered woke. It’s different. So far, it’s forced in this show.

                To be fair this show isn’t the most woke show there is but I will continue to watch for more and see.
