Not Anime, but watching the latest Marvel’s What If. Zombie Apocalypse is the theme. Hulk comes back to earth and zombies all around. Wasp is still human. Spiderman, too.

Went to watch the actual movie again. I don’t know why. I can see why fans went to the Japanese. The writing is very futuristic. Went to revisit the Robert Rodriguez movie. What a talented director. One of the first guys to shoot on digital. At first, I found the trans-humanism in it disturbing, but really got to say, that the Cyberpunk aesthetic looks top notch. It looks like the art we all looked at. It’s a shame we can’t get Rodriguez to direct Neon Future.

Such good writing. Makes you believe it’s real. I like that the Angel was like a military trooper.

Battle Angel Alita tells the story of Alita, an amnesiac female cyborg. Her intact head and chest, in suspended animation, are found by cybermedic expert Daisuke Ido in the local garbage dump. Ido manages to revive her, and finding she has lost her memory, names her Alita after his recently deceased cat. The rebuilt Alita soon discovers that she instinctively remembers the legendary martial art Panzer Kunst, although she does not recall anything else. Alita uses her Panzer Kunst to first become a bounty hunter killing cyborg criminals in the Scrapyard, and then as a star player in the brutal gladiator sport of Motorball. While in combat, Alita awakens memories of her earlier life on Mars. She becomes involved with the floating city of Zalem (Tiphares in some older translations) as one of their agents, and is sent to hunt down criminals. Foremost is the mad genius Desty Nova, who has a complex, ever-changing relationship with Alita.

The futuristic dystopian world of Battle Angel Alita revolves around the city of Scrapyard (Kuzutetsu in the Japanese and various other versions), which has grown up around a massive scrap heap that rains down from Zalem. Ground dwellers have no access to Zalem and are forced to make a living in the sprawl below. Many are heavily modified by cybernetics to better cope with their hard life.

Zalem exploits the Scrapyard and surrounding farms, paying bounty hunters (called Hunter-Warriors) to hunt criminals and arranging violent sports to keep the population entertained. Massive tubes connect the Scrapyard to Zalem, and the city uses robots for carrying out errands and providing security on the ground. Occasionally, Zalemites (such as Daisuke Ido and Desty Nova) are exiled and sent to the ground. Aside from the robots and exiles, there is little contact between the two cities.

Just watching this, I could definitely watch Anime under the right conditions. The drop-in scene of this one makes me realize Anime of Robert A Heinlein books are ones that I’d love to see. Maybe anime of ERB’s John Carter of Mars. After Star Wars Visions, an Anime of DUNE would be cool, especially for minor violent elements with the crysknives.

          Plot
When Sarajevo was destroyed by a homemade nuclear weapon, the leading democracies of the world transformed into surveillance states, where each individual is constantly monitored, watched, and wired. While the developed nations of the world entered this state, the developing countries around the world endured a multitude of genocides. Those developing countries went from harmony to complete destruction in about 6–8 months, with all of the events and evidence leading to one person, an American named John Paul.

Clavis Shepherd, a US Special Forces Officer, along with his team of advanced super-soldiers, are tasked with finding and eliminating John Paul. They want to know how one man can cause so much destruction and death.

Eventually, Clavis manages to track down John Paul, who confirms that he has discovered the existence of a “genocidal organ” naturally present in mankind that can be activated using a sequence of words, called by him as the “genocide grammar”, which he has used it to cause massive civil wars in the rest of the world, believing it to be the only way to protect America and the rest of the “first world” to terrorism and resentment from the third world, but Clavis unmoved take him into custody, only to see him dying after an assassination operation carried by his own intelligence unit who were ordered to kill him to prevent the end of the “peace” carried out by the surveillance states.

Consequently, Clavis discovered from Paul’s personal effect the truth, that the “organ of genocide” is actually the result of a massive program of subliminal messages, under the name of Operation John Paul (a probable controversial reference to the influence of the Catholic Church in the Western world), originally led by the leaders of the new “first world order”, which used the massive media coverage of the destruction of Sarajevo to start their operation, which was most likely also behind the nuclear city destruction. In fact, John Paul was originally the American agent in charge of the program, but unlike their original plan, Paul managed to escape their grasp, disappearing into the chaos of the civil wars that followed, creating a network of Resistance against his own former bosses. Paul’s notes also underline that he had found the true intention of the whole ordeal, to use the new world crisis, to impose an “Order of Nations”, transforming the world into a one-world government, militarized and controlled by its new “masters”, as a last resort Paul had also created a new sequence of words to activate his “genocidal” program in the English-speaking world, which just like the rest of the world population, had received the subliminal message of “genocidal organs”.

The revelation causes an immense conflict within Clavis, who despite having seen firsthand the result of the “genocidal organs” ordeal, he is also forced to admit that America and the rest of the first world are the real culprits of World suffering and devastation and that in any case, while America is still standing, they have practically killed the “American dream” and imposed a convenient “first world truth”, finally deciding to put Paul’s plan forward, planning an information leak to force his summons to a military hearing, watched from afar by the chief of staff and the general public, and Clavis, despite having no illusion about the future or that he is doing the right thing, activates the program, causing a civil war centered on America.

Project Itoh: The Empire of Corpses – Official Trailer

From the studio that produced Attack on Titan comes The Empire of Corpses, a captivating historical action thriller based on a Phillip K. Dick Award winning novel by Project Itoh. In an alternate version of 19th century London, the world has been revolutionized by “corpse reanimation technology” creating armies of undead who serve the living as laborers across the globe.

Haven’t seen it, but you guys got me curious about anime. The writing is excellent. It’s sad that this Japanese writer died in his 50s. It’s flattering that he chose to write the Frankenstein story in a different way. Watson is a main character from Sherlock Holmes. M from Bond is a supporting character. The Brothers Karamazov also make an appearance. This is so cool. I have very similiar ideas for something, but I am not a writer.

another method was used to replace the missing soul with an artificial one known as “Necroware”, which can be upgraded like a computer program,… John Watson, a medical student and aspiring corpse engineer, illegally creates his own Necroware to resurrect his deceased friend, Friday, and aspires to find a way to truly return him to life. Eventually, Watson is caught by M, a member of the British Secret Service, and to avoid a prison sentence, he agrees to become an agent for the British Empire. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Empire_of_Corpses

where they are ambushed by upgraded corpses now capable of limited human-like intelligence before they are saved by a mysterious woman

I watched The Empire Of Corpses a while ago, very interesting concept with lots of potential, but the pace of the movie itself was way too slow and jumpy for my taste

Expelled From Paradise – Official Trailer

Earth has been left in ruins following the “Nano Hazard.” Most of humanity has abandoned the planet they once called home along with their physical bodies, rebuilding their digitalized minds into a society within the cyber universe of “DEVA.” When a hacker gets into the mainframe, System Security Third Officer Angela Balzak must head to Earth to investigate!

Angela Balzac is an agent at the space station DEVA, whose inhabitants have no physical bodies, their minds digitized and processed into a virtual reality environment. After failing to track down the hacker known as “Frontier Setter”, who had infiltrated DEVA’s systems dozens of times to gather allies for his cause with no success, she is tasked to look for him down on Earth, now a barren planet where less than 2% of the human population lives. After being given a cloned, organic body and sent to the surface, Angela meets Dingo, her contact on Earth, who cuts off all communications with her base, in order to prevent Frontier Setter from discovering their location as well, despite her protests.

Due to Angela’s inexperience with organic life, she neglects food and rest and becomes sick, so Dingo cares for her until she gets well. As time passes, she begins to appreciate things deemed unnecessary in DEVA like food and music.

Angela and Dingo’s investigations lead them to an abandoned city, where they meet Frontier Setter, who is revealed to be an artificial intelligence system developed to supervise the construction of Genesis Ark, a ship designed for deep space travel, and somehow developed consciousness, continuing its work long after its masters perished and trying without success to recruit volunteers from DEVA to join its space mission. Realizing that Frontier Setter intends to do no harm at all, Angela leaves her body and reports to her superiors at DEVA, who order her to destroy it, fearing that it may eventually become a threat, but she refuses. Angela is branded a traitor and sentenced to have her mind stored into an archive forever, but Frontier Setter hacks into the system to rescue her. Once Angela returns to Earth and her body with supplies and weaponry, she and Dingo join forces to hold back DEVA’s other agents long enough for a rocket to be launched carrying Frontier Setter and the final module of the Genesis Ark. Frontier Setter offers for Angela to join it in space, but she chooses to stay with Dingo to experience more of Earth. Angela and Dingo then escape, while Frontier Setter starts its journey through space.

Started watching a new anime Megaton-kyuu Musashi, looks interesting

Oh, and if you plan to watch this anime, watch it in FanSub! The official subs have been tampered with by SJWs (i assume they were official since SJWs most likely don’t have the patience nor the work ethic to make FanSubs)

                sjw sub VS sub

Also a tip to spot SJW subs: Avoid weird-ass spelling like this

sjw - sub VS - sub
