Hi, i just joined the website a couple days ago, and these forums are a lot of fun!
I’m a late 90s kid, so i’ve been watching Pokémon practically since i was born, but my first clear memory of Pokèmon is watching the Pikachu and Pichu special on a tiny box TV, and straight after the 3rd Pokémon movie. I think That was even the first time they aired on TV.
Happy to hear more first Pokémon memory stories!
For me, it was the original Smash Bros on N64. I was playing the game with a friend of mine and he kept naming all the Pokemon that would show up in Pokeballs and on the Saffron City stage. I had no idea what the hell Pokemon was at the time, but I knew I needed to know more. Fast forward to later that summer, and I had some Lunchables with me at Bible camp that were Pokemon themed, with cutout cards on the back of the box. The obsession began, and 20 years later, I’m still a fan!
I wanna be the very best, that no one ever was.
My first memory is from Pokémon Red and Blue. After choosing my first Pokémon I would spend hours grinding it up to a level that would make whooping the first gym, Brock, very easy.
Taking a shit on the toilet playing Pokemon Yellow with my Pokemon edition Gameboy Color lmao That was a long time ago. I watched the show when it first came out so maybe that was it. I know it was huge at school and all my friends watched. But I was so little I dont remember much. I know I collected the original pokemon cards. I also remember going to see Pokemon The First Movie and getting a special Mewtwo card. I was 6 so I dont remember much. Thats crazy to think about it..
Do you guys remember those gold plated Pokemon Cards that came in a pokeball at Burger King? That was pretty cool at the time.
Yeah I do. Good times. Adulting can suck, ha.
At age 46
I got all 6 of them and still have them in pretty decent condition.
Blue was my first game and I bought it just before I turned 18. Up until then, I wasn’t big on RPG games. The mechanics of Pokemon Blue helped lure me to that genre of gaming. I ended up getting Red and Yellow not long after. I still have those games, Blue and Yellow still have the original save files. I used Red to get the pokemon I couldn’t find in the other games (thank you Pokemon Stadium for easy transfer mechanics). I still have my original Blastoise at level 100 (he’ll turn 21 years old this September)
My first contact with Pokemon was playing Pokemon Red on a emulator to the japanese version, a few months later I bought the game and a Game Boy Pocket.
I was just the right age when Pokemon first came along (like, eight, I think). I was lucky enough to catch the first episode broadcast on TV and was hooked into it for years. My parents bought me all Gen I & Gen II games and I played the hell out of them back and forth (loved the movies, too). Pokemania was everywhere at that time and I was fully into the culture surrounding it. Unfortunately, when Gen III came along, Pokemon had fallen out of favor at my school and it suddenly wasn’t cool anymore. I continued playing Gen III & IV on my own in my teenage years, but after leaving college I just didn’t see the point.
Still, had good times with this series. It was fun while it lasted.
A very, very good one!
When I was like 4 years old, pokémon was the greatest shit on TV.
Well, I woke up one day, and my mum had a big, BIG collection of Pokémon figures all waiting for me in the living room. Holy crap, I was so damn happy! There were at least 50 figures, a pair of pokéballs, a cap, and a big ass Pikachu.
I wish I was more mature back then to have taken care of those figures… I gradually lost them all, until they were all but gone. A true shame, because those figures were very well made.
Anyways, I’ve been a fan of pokémon practically all my life. Not the greatest fan, but I still enjoy watching the series sometimes, and I have played most of the games….
HAHAHA :D i used to play nintendo DS on the toilet. When i was in school Pokémon cards were so valuable to us instead of traiding them normally we’d dare eachother to do stupid shit and the card was the prize
An early happy birthday Blastoise
