That movie A Complete Unknown about Bob Dylan is coming out. It looks like a good role for Chalamet, but Joni called him a fraud, so it’s my guilty pleasure to listen to Joni Mitchell instead of Bob Dylan. Always liked Free Man In Paris, but didn’t know the song about about David Geffen. In the distant past, I was a fan of Geffen and Clive Davis, but things have changed over time.
When mobs attack Americans or Brits or Europeans, you never hear a song from Bob Dylan or Bruce cuz they obviously do not care. It revealed a lot. Same with the entire media.
While ‘Karmageddon’ has sparked significant conversation and controversy, Iyah has stood her ground. She refused to compromise her vision when asked to change a key lyric line, leading to the end of her contract with her manager. She chose to walk away from her record label and now, fully independent, Iyah continues to carve her own path as an artist.
Her fearless approach is shaped by her unique perspective as a qualified medical doctor, having worked on the frontlines during the COVID-19 pandemic.
EVS played it on his stream. It’s like the opposite of Gil Scott-Heron and sounds way better.
1974 cover of Seymour Tamzarian’s obscure funk single “Coexist With My Fist” by grizzled war veteran Major Payne Hurts, who played flute in the marching band with Seymour during their deployment in Vietnam. With a rifle slung over one shoulder and a flute over the other, Payne’s music was a love letter to freedom, hate mail to hippies, and a 12-step program for anyone who dared question the American flag.
Payne returned to civilian life with a heart full of flag-waving pride and a deep, unwavering suspicion of anyone who wore peace symbols, played the sitar, or said “far out” with a straight face. He found his true calling in pro-war activism and writing pro-war songs that also deplored the so-called “flower children” who were, in his words, “soft as mashed potatoes and twice as useless.” His hit single, “Get Your Hair Cut, You F*cking Hippie,” topped the charts for almost 17 weeks.
