The Holiday Special is a stand alone TV show that although it is infamous for the poor quality of just about every aspect of its production does not damage the overall story of Star Wars. On the other hand as part of a main trilogy The Last Jedi rips it apart.
Just for being non-destructive I have to say that the Holiday Special is superior. If you don’t like it you can ignore just that one TV show instead of an entire trilogy that Disney desperately want to call the end of the saga.
