I’m assuming this is kind of a “popular character that I actually hate” kind of conversation?

If that’s the case, I’m going with Harley Quinn.  She USED to be awesome, back when she was a genuine psychopathic partner in crime with Joker.  But ever since she went mainstream and got her own shows and movies, she has become insufferably annoying and uninteresting.  It’s a shame too, because I actually really like Margot Robbie in the role.  Her scripts have just been crap.  James Gunn is that character’s last hope.

Crazy women with no moral compass saw Harley Quinn and thought, “Wow – She is literally me!” and thought that was a good thing.

They loved Harley Quinn because she was as dysfunctional as they were, seeming to lack any sort of self-awareness that Harley was meant to be a warning not to make bad choices in life. She was a fascinating character study, not a role model.

😹 My role model’s Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader, that good or bad?

Eh, depends on what side of Anakin you’re referring to. Anakin has some pretty complex emotions, but I’m going to assume you mean the more heroic side of his character: He does loves his friends and family and is very loyal to them – That’s a very good quality in a person.

Anakin’s faults was that he could be too passionate, which would cloud his better judgement. He didn’t temper his emotions with wisdom (like Obi-Wan would). That lead him to make some pretty bad choices with sometimes disastrous consequences.

All in all his story is a very tragic, cautionary one of how a good person can still do terrible things if they let their emotions run wild. This doesn’t make him a particularly bad character, or unlikable. It in fact makes him relatable, as we’re all capable of doing both good and bad.

I’ve always found myself to be very similar to Anakin, faults inclueded, but i guess in a way that helped, as i don’t only look up to him, but also learnt from his mistakes

Oh no, it’s not necessarily ‘popular character that I hate’, it’s just about people’s least favourite characters in general, popular or not.

And I agree about Harley Quinn. She used to be cool.

Michael Burnham from Star Trek Discovery. For the half a season I was able to tolerate that show she stood out as especially bad.
