As Halloween approaches, it is time to revisit the old horror classics & figure out what happened to Freddy Krueger and a Nightmare on Elm Street. I recently started a youtube channel and I think people that enjoy Geeks and Gamers will like my videos. If you would like to see a humorous deep dive in a horror classic, watch Part 1 of the Yeticast Halloween Special! https://youtu.be/FmKEPq5iNMg
What are your thoughts on the series?
I haven’t been into the horror genre since Saw but I watched a little bit of your video and I can tell you put a lot of effort into making it.
Thanks! I really appreciate that, honestly. I’m trying to add a mixture of analysis and humor to make entertaining videos for people. I don’t always cover horror movies, this deep dive is just for my Halloween special. The videos definitely take me a while to finish making.
While I enjoy “classic horror” films, alot of the modern ones fit under the “horror/slasher” genre.
That is where I find franchises like Elm Street, Friday 13th, Saw, Halloween, Hellraiser, etc, are.
I personally don’t find them enjoyable to watch.
Alien (1979) – great atmosphere.
The Thing (1982) – had great suspense.
Besides, I found most of those slasher films to be too repetitive. Same MO, different people. The villain never really evolves. All we know is a little bit more of its backstory, but that is it, IMO.

This is exactly where I am in the series right now. A nightmare on Elm Street begins to become very repetitive and Freddy is more of a comedian. But that’s why i’m watching and doing the deep dive into the series, so you don’t have to! You get to laugh at my suffering as I fall apart with each iteration of the franchise.
I thought about doing a Thing deep dive, but it’s much harder to write jokes for a masterpiece. I might have gotten lucky, since Critical Drinker put out a video on the Thing, right when mine would have finished.
For “The Thing”, you could compare how it has evolved over time.
Start with the B&W “The Thing From Another World” (1951)
Then go onto “The Thing (1982)
and finally “The Thing” (2011)
Now that looks enticing… in a creepy horror sort of way.
