I am old school Trekkie. I like the older movies. 1-6. They have charm, class, brotherhood, and are just great cinema to me. The TNG movies are hit and miss, but mostly miss frankly. Generations and First Contact are the only ones I like. The other two are boring hot garbage. The new Jar Jar Abrams ST movies: I like the first one. Into Darkness is HORRIBLE, I wont even buy that one it’s so bad. Beyond is tolerable.
To me, Star Trek is pretty much dead. The new shows are identity politics trash. They lack any of the feeling the old ST used to have. All the flash and fast movement “modernized” garbage is not Star Trek to me. Star Trek to me was always about brotherhood/family and stories that make you think or actually care about.
What I REALLY want is a 4K version of ST The Motion Picture Directors Cut. I just LOVE that movie, also the soundtrack, and will only watch that longer version. Sadly, when the company that was hired to redo the effects for the remaster and redid the effects in CG, they only did them in 480 resolution. There has been a push to get them redone by the same company for 4K, but it’s been a battle with Paramount. Hopefully someday we can get it.
