The Obi-Wan Kenobi news never stops! In an exclusive, Total Film shared three new images from the upcoming series. One of the pictures shows Obi-Wan walking along what appears to be the sandy streets of Tatooine. Another shows us more of the new Hong Kong-inspired planet of Daiyu, and the last is a better look at Rupert Friend as the show’s live-action interpretation of the Grand Inquisitor. Check out the photos here:

On a side note, Andor has reportedly been reduced from 5 seasons to 3, according to the show’s director of photography, Adriano Goldman.

There’s not a lot to see in the photos, as far as I’m concerned. I’m sure there will be plenty of shots of Obi-Wan walking in the sand in this series, and this is more of the same with Daiyu. It’s notable that Obi-Wan isn’t in his usual Jedi robes here, though. Maybe they’re retroactively trying to show that Obi-Wan wasn’t always in plain sight wearing Jedi garb. It’s an interesting choice to highlight the Grand Inquisitor again, given how his appearance has been received thus far. His double-bladed lightsaber looks good, but my thoughts on the makeup and prosthetics haven’t changed. Some people have already commented that his head looks better in this photo, but I think it’s just the angle.
As for the Andor news, I’m not surprised the show is being shortened; I’m more surprised that there were ever 5 seasons planned! I’ve never understood the decision to make a series about this character. Rogue One didn’t seem very concerned with its own characters, and they were mostly boring as a consequence. I’ve always thought the movie would have been better (though still not necessary) if they made the characters likable and interesting before killing them off. I don’t even see how they plan to get three seasons out of this guy, and I don’t really care.
What do you make of the Obi-Wan Kenobi photos? Are you relieved to see Andor’s season count reduced, or did you hope to watch his adventures for longer? Let us know in the comments!
Thanks again to Total Film for the images.
