TRAILER 3: Andor Season 2 (2025)

“There's a future here for those who dare.”

On Monday, March 24th, Disney and Lucasfilm dropped what I assume is the final trailer for season 2 of Andor. The second and final season begins on April 22nd, less than a month from now. And this is the third trailer we’ve gotten if you count the “special look,” which was vastly superior to the first trailer. This particular ad features lots of juicy dialogue, such as Mon Mothma addressing the Senate. Bix says she wants to win if she gives up everything, referencing the freedom and safety Cassian secured for her and the others at the end of season 1. Check it out here:

I mentioned this last time, but I really didn’t think we’d be seeing Bix (Adria Arjona) on the show again. I took Cassian ferrying her, Brasso (Joplin Sibtain), and B2EMO to safety away from Ferrix as an end to their stories. I’m not exactly disappointed since I have no idea what’s coming, but I’m very surprised. I think Bix will die as a result of getting into the fight, and Cassian will end up scarred by it. Her death will be part of his misdeeds he must absolve in Rogue One. If so, it would help explain why he evidently has nothing to live for besides the Rebellion. It would also be perfectly bittersweet for Bix to fight the Empire after what they did to her, only to die. She could stay safe with her friends, but maybe she doesn’t even want that after the mental anguish she was put through. We’ll just have to wait and see, but unlike many of the other Star Wars shows, Andor absolutely would kill her off.

Luthen Rael (Stellan Skarsgard), Saw Gerrera (Forest Whitaker), Director Orson Krennic (Ben Mendelson), and my favorite, Syril Karn (Kyle Soller), deliver compelling lines in this trailer, too. Unlike the music and action-heavy first trailer, they’re actually displaying what we love about Andor. Don’t get me wrong; the set pieces and conflicts are great and look much better than in Ahsoka, Book of Boba Fett, Obi-Wan Kenobi, etc. But what sets Andor apart is the spectacular writing, which is unlike anything else we’ve seen (at least in TV and movies) with Star Wars. A trailer can’t exactly lay out the intricate plotting of the season; I’m glad they don’t. I want to be shocked again like I was with season 1. The masterful monologues take this show to new heights and allow incredible actors like Skarsgard and Whitaker to shine all the more. I can’t wait to see the context for these lines, to whom they’re spoken, and more. It makes sense to appeal to the masses with the first trailer; evidently, they didn’t watch season 1, as the numbers were below expectations. But I like this type of marketing more because it reminds me more of what the show is really about, and that’s extremely exciting.

With Syril’s line about the future, I assume he’s talking about the Empire. If there’s one character I can’t see turning coat, it’s him, so I can’t imagine he means the Rebellion. Syril was my favorite character in season 1, more than Cassian, Mon Mothma, or even Luthen (who is definitely up there, maybe #2). I love his strict moral code and obsession with justice. He reminds me a little bit of Inspector Javert in Les Miserables, too caught up in the chase to grasp the big picture. I particularly look forward to finding out what becomes of him.

But what did you think of this trailer or anything else Andor? Are you looking forward to the final season? Sound off in the comments!
