Today, Disney+ and Lucasfilm finally released an initial trailer for the long-in-development Star Wars TV series The Acolyte following months of speculation and an announcement yesterday that also included a poster. You can see the trailer here:
And here’s the poster:
This trailer is well-paced and put together. It looks cleaner and more competent than anything I expected from The Acolyte; so far, they’ve done a lot of talking about the show with nothing to show for it. The costumes look great, and the music has the desired effect. However, this trailer doesn’t really make me feel anything. Maybe it’s because it’s far more concerned with tone and the show’s concept than its characters. The Jedi charging with their yellow lightsabers looks very High Republic-y based on my limited knowledge of the books and comics. But this time would be better served letting us know and care about Amandla Stenberg’s character or any of the others. A Jedi youngling seeing fire doesn’t do anything for me. I will still watch the show and give it a chance; this is just my take on the trailer.
The Acolyte premieres on June 4th with two episodes on Disney+.
But what do you think about The Acolyte, this trailer, or anything else Star Wars? Let us know in the comments!
I took a shot everytime I seen a white male. I’m sober and rather pissed off.
The trailer was more focused on displaying diversity rather than selling the show. It only made me want to avoid the show entirely.
Just doesn’t hook me anymore at all.
Knights Of The Old Republic never needed more than one trailer to get me interested. That is why Drew Karpyshyn should have been appointed in some role to lead Star Wars.
Also, hate to be repetitive, but the Cobra Kai writers should have also been consulted just because Cobra Kai Theory and Star Wars Theory go so well together with the different schools of thought and light/dark philosophies.
I never thought I’d see the day where Dune was leading Star Wars, but that day has arrived.
