Deadpool 3 is rumored to be chock full of cameos – and perhaps larger roles – from a plethora of X-Men characters played by the actors who portrayed them in the Fox movies from 2000 on. But today, another hint at a possible appearance was delivered by the actor himself. This piece will get into potential spoilers for Deadpool 3, and Twitter has ruined quite enough of this film for unsuspecting fans, so here’s your warning…
*SPOILERS*
On the podcast Happy Sad Confused, host Josh Horowitz asked guest Patrick Stewart about the number of times he’s died on-screen as Professor Charles Xavier, the founder of the X-Men, and Stewart’s response indicated that, despite meeting his maker on several occasions, Stewart’s version of Professor X might not be gone for good.
This gels with an interview Stewart gave last February where he suggested that he and Ian McKellan, who played his best friend/arch-nemesis Magneto, would be back somewhere down the line. It also fits with old X-Men character/actor pairings popping up throughout recent MCU movies. While Stewart was a bit vague about Deadpool 3, it seems certain that he’ll be playing Xavier again. And Deadpool 3 seems like the perfect place to bring him back, with the possible exception of Avengers: Secret Wars, as Xavier was a major player in the original comic (as was Magneto). Deadpool’s next adventure is one of the few upcoming Marvel movies people are hopeful for, and in the face of dwindling faith in the MCU, fans can cling to the superficial joy of seeing Stewart, McKellan, and Hugh Jackman share the screen again.
