Today, Xbox held its 2024 Showcase, and it seemed to wow a lot more people than the Summer Game Fest presentation did. Here are the trailers from the show:
That was a much better slate than the Summer Game Fest one from Friday. They don’t all interest me (to each his own, but I struggle to understand how a game like Mixedtape appeals to anyone, and the animation in South of Midnight looks awful), but some of them look fantastic, with Doom: The Dark Ages, Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, and WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers the highlights. Perfect Dark has my interest because I used to love the Nintendo 64 game, but is this a sequel or a remake? I would guess it’s a sequel since the common practice is just to copy the original name. It’s different from the old Perfect Dark, with more espionage than just shooting, which could work; Joanna Dark looks a lot different, though. I really want to love Indiana Jones and the Great Circle (despite the lame title), and parts of it look great, but dear God, how much of that game is just cinematics? I know these are trailers, but that looks like a pretty important scene that just happens instead of letting you play through it. Same goes for Call of Duty Black Ops 6; I’m sure there’s plenty of gameplay, but the trailer was all video clips. But again, this was a lot more fun to watch than Summer Game Fest, and I hope everyone saw something they liked.
For sure, especially since video games aren’t really my specialty. I like what I like, but I don’t naturally keep up on them the way I do with movies.
Hey, can you turn your Flintlock comments back on?
It’s kind of weird, Ok able to comment on some of your articles, but I can’t on others.
And I REALLY wanna shout it from the rooftops that THE WOKE HAVE LOST THIS WAR!!!! XD
FLINTLOCK TOPS OUT AT 607 STEAM PLAYERS!!! XD
People lie. Numbers don’t B – )
To paraphrase Phil Anselmo; “Walk on home, they/them!” XD
This is good, too. For a guy like yourself, I’d think these really help with staying on top of IPs. I’ve never been organized. My be smart to do this with Anime/Manga slates, too.
Agree that the games here look a bit more crisp. One that stood out a wee bit was Age of Mythology just because mythology is kind of fun and there are so many esoteric gods. They always cover Greek/Rome/Egypt. Obviously, Thor comes from Nordic, but it always trips me out when authors dive into mythology from Japan or MesoAmerica in their stories.
