Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures hits Disney Junior and Disney+ on May 4th, Star Wars Day, but you can watch three shorts now. The first three shorts have been posted to the official Disney Junior YouTube, with three more to follow in the coming weeks. All six shorts will then go to Disney+ on April 26th, about a week before the big series premiere. You can watch a playlist of all three shorts here:
The shorts are what I expected, for the most part. I don’t know how I didn’t notice before that they recast Yoda! Nothing against Piotr Michael, who I know nothing about, but Frank Oz IS Yoda. I don’t know if Oz declined to voice the character or if he wasn’t asked, but recasting him strikes me as an odd choice. One thing that surprised me is that Nash isn’t a Jedi. I question the ability of such a young child to pilot a ship, but I guess that’s just to make kids feel empowered. It’s no secret that this show is for kids, and it’s not pretending to appeal to adults. That’s fine with me; Star Wars is for everybody. But I’ll be sitting this one out.
