Sandbox Sim Farm Folks Tries to Have Fun, Apologizes

The newest instance of video games having the fun sucked out of them occurred over the past couple of days. Have you ever heard of Farm Folks? I hadn’t until today, but it’s been around for five years. It’s sort of like a Sim City type of game where you manage the various aspects of a farm. Here’s a trailer, in case this is as new to you as it is to me:

Okay. Not my thing, but I know some people are into it. Well, a few days ago, the Farm Folks official X account made an unforgivable post, one in which they tried to have some fun with their customers. They posted a few videos of a female character running and asked which one had the best “breast jiggle physics.” (Image is courtesy of That Parks Place; you’ll see below why I couldn’t embed the post.)

Farm Folks

I’ll understand if you need a moment to recover. A gaming world that was just rocked with Stellar Blade and its protagonist’s feminine form (which has, thankfully, been covered up so the boys don’t get funny ideas) now has to contend with the notion of female anatomy swaying based on movement. They say the World War II vets made up the greatest generation, but did they have to survive animated body movements in a recreational activity? Fortunately, the fun police were on patrol, and they put a stop to this sort of amusement post haste (this image also courtesy of That Park Place):

To be fair, Black Girl Gamers was joined by a few individual sticks in the mud who were not amused. They were also countered with a bunch of people who wanted to engage with the post. But, as always, the joyless hall monitors had to win, and Farm Folks deleted their original post and issued an apology:

I looked at Black Girl Gamers’ X account, and so far, I don’t see any acknowledgment of Farm Folks’ backtracking; just arguing with people who disagree with them and accusing Savvy|Artist of libel. So all the Farm Folks people have accomplished is bumming out the people who enjoyed the post while getting nothing so much as a smug remark from those they were trying to appease. This is why giving in and apologizing is never the right response; the people complaining are not doing so in good faith, and the people on your side just end up annoyed.

This is also what I mean when I say that this stuff used to be fun. Can you imagine being this freaked out over a game about farming? They made a funny post about boobs, and it requires a retraction and an apology? This should illustrate why people are protesting the Stellar Blade censorship for those who think they’re overreacting: it’s everything, everywhere, and sooner or later, something has to give.

Great fun, actually. Remember the Netflix Marvel show Luke Cage? It was a black show. It was literally one of the only times I saw glamorous black women. Lately, I watched some reaction videos to an old song “Free Your Mind” by En Vogue and they were overtly fashionistas. Great group.
I recall some black woman interviewing Christina Hendricks and she was like, right on, you are all woman, let’s talk about Mad Men and it was charming and funny.
Guess what I’m saying is, as a guy, I like to see the pin-ups and bombshell types, like Bettie Page, Sophia Loren, Jayne Mansfield, Gina Lollobrigida, and it’s interesting that this is what works, but it is shunned now. Real Americana is shunned. For a while, I guess we got Vivica Fox. The one who is triggering them now is Sydney Sweeney.
Guess what I am getting at is Marvel also had success with Black Panther, which was a black epic film. Very rare. We don’t get to see that often.
It’s odd to me that what I perceive as glamorous Tinseltown, these freaks and weirdos see it as some kind of exploitation or Blaxploitation. I like that they dug up Angela Bassett to star in some films lately. I know Nerdrotic Gary is a big fan of Pam Grier and she was really something.
I think these critics in the mold of BlackGirlGamers just hate beauty and vitality. This is a problem that also crept in to comics, whereas before, you had bombshells like Rogue and now, you get the kind of frumpy, plus-sized slacker type that looks like Lena Dunham or some other bulbous grotesque looking, tumor humanoid figure.
Very basic question, but has BlackGirlGamers ever listened to Cardi B. or Nicki Minaj or Megan Thee Stallion, where like every single lyric is way over the line 100x worse than breast jiggle physics?

Doesn’t Nerdrotic Gary say that’s like the first and easiest step to make something better? Just add breasts to it.

Did see a quote one time, and think it was regarding outfits at premieres, or something like that. “Breasts are the greatest accessory, they go with everything.” Could not find the quote, but wanted to say it was made by Christina Hendricks. It’s something a woman would say, or Jessica Rabbit. That one liner alone has the power of estrogen in it. A female with an attitude, who is not a snowflake. Don’t get many of those anymore.
